Irwin Shapiro is the Timken University Professor at Harvard University. His research focused on radio and radar techniques and their applications to astrometry, astrophysics, geophysics, planetary physics, and tests of theories of gravitation. He is also interested in pre-college and college science education, curriculum development, and teacher training. His honors include about a dozen national and international awards from astronomy, geophysics, and physics societies. He is also a member of other honor societies.
