Barbara Nachtrieb Armstrong Professor of Law, University of California, Berkeley. Research centers on family law, sex-based discrimination and conflict of laws. She helped draft the first pure no-fault divorce laws as a member of the California Governor's Commission in 1966 and as Co-Reporter of the Uniform Marriage and Divorce Act in 1970. She was co-author (with Kenneth Davidson and Ruth Bader Ginsburg) of the first comprehensive casebook on sex-based discrimination, published in 1974, which helped create the field as a legal subject. Her present research focuses on the history of early women law professors.
