Mr. Herbert Kaufman serves as a visiting fellow for Yale University after teaching there from 1953-1969 as a Professor of Political Science. His research concentrated in public administration, organization theory and behavior, and urban government. His publications include studies of the U.S. Forest Service, federal bureau chiefs, administrative feedback, and the government of New York City. Most recently, he has explored organizational evolution, applying concepts of natural selection to the survival of organizations.
