Served on the editorial boards of the American Sociological Review and the American Journal of Sociology, and the board of reviewing editors of Science. Trustee of the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences and board member of Annual Reviews, Inc. Served on the Committee of Selection of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, on the boards of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Social Science Research Council, and as President of the Society for Social Studies of Science.
