Professor Harold John Hanham was the Vice Chancellor from the University of Lancaster. Prior, Professor Hanhamheld positions at the University of Manchester, University of Edinburgh, Harvard University, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is an expert on British political history in the modern era. He is a member of the Royal History Society, History Association, American History Association, Economic History Society, and Political Studies Association. His works include "Scottish Nationalism", "The Nineteenth-Century Constitution 1815-1914: Documents and Commentary", "Elections and Party Management: Politics in the Time of Disraeli and Gladstone".
