Glenn is a theorist leading the development of field-based simulations for studying polymers and soft materials. His "field-theoretic" simulations have had a major impact on the design of block copolymers and related self-assembling systems, and processes involving these materials such as the patterning of microelectronic devices at nanometer length scales. Glenn is Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering and Materials and Director of the Mitsubishi Chemical Center for Advanced Materials at UC Santa Barbara, and Member of the Board of Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings in Tokyo, Japan. He is a recipient of awards from the American Chemical Society, the American Physical Society, The Materials Research Society, and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and is a Member of the National Academy of Engineering.
