Gerhard Weinberg is the William Rand Kenan, Jr. Professor of History Emeritus at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He held prior appointments at the University of Michigan and the University of Kentucky. His scholarship focuses on the following: modern German history, the Holocaust, and the events of World War II and their effects.  He examined raw material from both German and Allied records.  Author of A World at Arms: A Global History of World War II (1994),  a detailed synthesis of primary documents and secondary materials on the war, from a global perspective. His works led to recognition such as the Pritzker Military Library Literature Award and the George Louis Beer Prize.
