Research centers on the hydrodynamics (HD) and magnetodynamics (MHD) of spinning fluids based on laboratory and mathematical studies. It includes the elucidation of basic processes and the application of ideas thus obtained to the fluid regions of the Earth and the planets (ie, atmospheres, oceans and electrally undirecting fluid interiors, where magnetic fields can be generated by magnetohydrodynamic self-exciting dynamo action. Earliest experiments played a key role in the subsequent development of chaos theory.
