Distinguished Professor of Mathematics. Over the last 30 years, has developed Langlands' method of meromorphically continuing L-functions using Eisenstein series on linear algebraic groups over a number field. In doing so, resolved many problems and difficulties including ramification in local factors and surprisingly obtaining holomorphic continuations in many cases. The Langlands-Shahidi Method is a central tool in modern automorphic form theory with far-reaching applications to L-functions, functionality and the Ramanujan Conjectures.
