Franklin Costantini, in the Department of Genetics and Development at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
The research focus of his lab is currently the genetics of kidney development in the mouse and the cellular and genetic basis of epithelial branching morphogenesis.
He has been credited for helping to establish transgenic technology through pioneering work using pronuclear microinjection to produce transgenic mice, demonstrating that transgenes could be transmitted to the offspring of transgenic founders, and subsequent work demonstrating transgene expression in offspring.
He has a PhD in Developmental Biology from the California Institute of Technology.
