Recent research has focused on the problem of incomplete markets. It shows that the state of anture approach is unsatisfactory, and that spanning is neither a necessary nor a sufficient condition for incomplete markets not to induce inefficiency. Other work has been concerned with notions of flexibility and with monetary theory.
