Erica Reiner

Main field is Assyriology. Until retirement in 1996 Editor in charge of the Assyrian Dictionary of the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago; continues to serve on its editorial board. Her special interest is linguistics; she wrote a monograph on the linguistic analysis of the Akkadian (Assyrian and Babylonian) language, and her current research continues to include linguistic subjects. A major project currently in process is the edition of cuneiform texts dealing with omina derived from celestial phenomena, several parts of which have appeared.
