Work in ethics and the theory of value, as well as interdisciplinary work in philosophical issues in law, democratic theory, social equality, and racial integration. Influential work on commodification and value, especially regarding women's labor and the expression of social values. Writings in the fields of feminism and epistemology. Current areas of research include the history of egalitarianism from the Levellers forward; pragmatist moral epistemology, taking the abolition of slavery as the central case study; and workplace governance and workers' rights.
