Elinor R. Ochs is Professor of Anthropology at UCLA and director of the UCLA Center on Everyday Lives of Families and the Center for Language, Interaction, and Culture. She is also the Primary Investigator of UCLA's Ethnography of Autism Project. Her research focuses on the role of language and culture in human lifespan development and learning across cultures. MacArthur Foundation Fellow, 1998. Her husband is Fellow Alessandro Duranti, a professor of anthropology and Dean of Social Sciences at UCLA.
