Her major academic interest is in the field of institutional analysis and design -- the study of how rules-in-use affect the incentives facing individuals in particular settings, their behavior, and consequent outcomes. SHe has studied institutional arrangements related to metropolitan governance and antural resources in both the United States and the Third World.
