Eero P. Simoncelli

Simoncelli is a world leader in theoretical neuroscience, visual neuroscience, and image processing. He develops computational theories of vision based on the mathematics of image processing and the statistics of natural images, and tests those theories with innovative psychophysical and neurobiological experiments and insightful analysis. He also applies his knowledge to real-world problems of image analysis. He is one a very small number of multi-disciplinary psychologists/engineers/neuroscientists who have been truly successful in bringing together engineering principles to inform and elevate perceptual psychology and neuroscience.
