Research focuses on the development of hemotopoietic cells. She has elucidated the cell biologic events involved in the differentiation and function of granulocytes, monocytes/macrophages, megakaryocytes and platelets. These include the formation of several types of granules, the secretory and phagocytic processes as awell as adhesion proteins in cell-cell interactions. This is important because the ability of each type of blood cell to perform its special function in blood or tissues is dependent upon the synthesis of particular chemica substance during its maturation.
