Professor Denis Mack Smith is the Emeritus Fellow at All Souls College, University of Cambridge since 1987. His research focused on the history of Italy, starting with the Risorgimento, and specifically studied Garibaldi, Cavour, and Mussolini. He is the recipient of the Presidential Medal, Polifemo d’Argento, Sileno d’Oro, Fregene, and is a member of Santa Margherita Ligure, Association for Study of Modern Italy, Peterhouse, and Repubblica di San Marino. Professor Smith's publications include "Modern Italy: A Political History" and "Italy and its Monarchy."
