Research is on Greek and Roman philosophy. He has worked especially on Plato and Hellenistic philosophy, the latter with a particularly strong focus on Epicurus and Lucretius. Other publications range from Hesiod (c. 700 B.C.) to Philoponus (6th century A.D.). Particular interests include theology, cosmology and metaphysics, and the editing of philosophical texts on papyrus.
