Kirp's work on K-12 education and other topics has resulted in 17 books, membership on an Obama presidential transition task-force on education in 2008, and a regular role as op-ed columnist for The New York Times on the importance of early childhood. Over 45 years of research and teaching as a founding faculty member of the Goldman School of Public Policy at UC Berkeley, he has created a national agenda for child development and education policy. He has won numerous awards for his elevation of issues critical to the next generations of Americans.
