Besides adopting a global perspective, which spans dazzling geographical breadth and sustained temporal continuities across the premodem-modem divide, David Der-wei Wang's work aims for interdisciplinary resonance, via issues such as lyricism and nationalism in China and Taiwan. He is the pioneering author of several highly influential monographs in English. He is also the Chinese translator of Foucault's Archeology of Knowledge, editor or co-editor of more than twenty influential edited volumes and anthologies, and series editor for more than a half dozen different book series. More recently he is the editor of the highly acclaimed New literary History of Modern China (Harvard, 2017).
