Known for her efforts with consumers and health professionals to create a new paradigm for access and quality, Fagin was a consultant to foundations and educational institutions. She was dean of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and the first woman to serve as Chief Executive Officer of the University in her term as Interim President. Fagin received 15 honorary doctoral degrees and numerous alumni, civic and professional awards. In 1998 Dr. Fagin was made a Living Legend by the American Academy of Nursing and received the President's Medal from New York University. Dr. Fagin has published 9 books and monographs and more than 90 articles.
