Dr. Sterk is the newly appointed president of Emory University and a leading international figure in the fields of public health and anthropology. Her research programs address addiction, mental health, and HIV/AIDS, with a focus on community-based interventions. Administratively, Dr. Sterk has served as associate dean for research, senior vice provost for academic affairs, and provost. She is recognized as a thought leader among chief academic officers/provosts of our nation's leading research universities. Assuming the presidency of Emory University, Dr. Sterk ascends deservedly to an even higher platform from which to influence the performance and character of American higher education.
