Davenport's work on political violence and conflict stands out for its methodological breadth and substantive range. He is the author of four books, numerous articles in top journals (The American Political Science Review, The American Journal of Political Science, The Journal of Politics, among others), and is the recipient of ten National Science Foundation grants. Davenport would bring to the Academy the insights of a scholar driven by a commitment to deepening scholarly understanding of violence, one who breaks disciplinary and sub-disciplinary boundaries in doing so.
