Chenghua Gu is a professor in the Department of Neurobiology at Harvard Medical School. The general goal of her laboratory studies is to understand how neural and vascular systems coordinate to develop, communicate, and work in concert to ensure proper brain function.

Gu's study of "Mechanisms of Neuro-vascular Interactions in the Central Nervous System" is part of the Harvard Brain Science Institute. The focus of the work is to understand the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the blood-brain barrier function and neurovascular coupling. Her research has an impact on therapeutics and can change how neurological diseases are treated.

She received her PhD from Cornell Medical School and her postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins Medical School, Baltimore.
