Conducts research on the mechanisms and forces that shape genomic polymorphism and phenotypic variation among individuals and between species. Using Drosophila as a model system characterized transposable elements as genomic parasites and investigated the genomic polymorphisms underlying quantitative genetic variation. Discovered and theoretically interpreted the strong reduction in DNA sequence polymorphism found in genomic regions of low crossing over.
