Professor Charles E. Curran is the Elizabeth Scurlock University Professor of Human Values at Southern Methodist University. He is a Catholic priest and scholar who participated in controversies and changes in the Roman Catholic Church. He has added numerous contributions in the areas of moral theology, method in theology, and the history of moral theology. Professor Curran has received the John Courtney Murray Award for Theology, and served as president of the Catholic Theological Society of America, the Society of Christian Ethics, and the American Theological Society. He writes for both scholarly and non-academic readership and is the author of Catholic Moral Theology in the United States: A History (2008) and Loyal Dissent: Memoir of a Catholic Theologian (2006).
