She is internationally recognized for her official Hebrew editions of the Dead Sea Scrolls, contributing to four volumes of Discoveries in the Judaean Desert (Oxford). In addition to her text-critical precision she is widely respected as one of the most conceptually insightful analysts of moral agency in Judaism. In multidisciplinary investigations, connecting theories from anthropology, rhetorical discourse, and social psychology, she has been probing the emergence of the moral agency and the introspective self in the Scrolls community and broader Judaism. Elected president of the Society of Biblical Literature, she has earned several honorary doctorates and numerous awards.
