Poet. Professor of English. Author of thirteen books of poetry. Recipient of the 2023 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry, Kingsley Tufts Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and an Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Translated Sophocles' Philoctetes and wrote a book of essays on the art of poetry. Studied writing, Latin, Greek, and Classics at Boston University, Harvard University, and University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Poems draw inspiration from Greek and Latin syntax. Themes include sexuality, spirituality, and human emotion.
