Carl-Henrik Heldin

Heldin is distinguished for his work on the molecular mechanisms of action of growth factors, in particular PDGF and TGFBeta, including the identification and elucidation of mechanisms of activation of their receptors, and elucidation of intracellular signaling pathways that are initiated by ligand stimulation and which affect cell growth, migration and differentiation of the target cells. His work has contributed to an improved understanding of normal signal transduction, and how perturbations of signaling pathways promote tumor progression. Heldin has published over 350 research articles and over 195 review articles, with an H-index of 128.
