Discovered many of the proteins central to eukaryote cell DNA replication and defined a pathway that couples the deposition of core histones for chromatin assembly to the growing DNA replication fork. Discovery of the origin recognition complex enabled a mechanistic dissection of the earliest steps that prepare cells to duplicate chromosomes in S phase of the cell cycle.
