Senior Partner. Co-founder and builder of more than forty new technology based ventures, many of which have become public companies. Formed the first Life Sciences practice group in the venture capital profession and led KPCB to become a premier venture capital firm in the medical, healthcare, and biotechnology sectors as well as in information technology/web and greentech/cleantech. Served on the Board of Directors of dozens of companies which have pioneered the medical uses of molecular biology, monoclonal antibodies, molecular diagnostics and genomics. Board member of the University of California at San Francisco Medical Foundation, the New Schools Foundation, Stanford's Bio-X Advisory Council, the Stanford Eye Council, and the Environmental Defense Fund National Council. In 2007, he was awarded the UCSF Medal, their honorary degree equivalent.
