                    Founded Vision To Learn to provide children with free eye exams and free glasses by bringing its mobile eye clinics to schools and to other neighborhood youth and community organizations. He is the former Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of the Los Angeles Times. Previously, he was First Deputy Mayor and Chief Executive for Economic and Business Policy of Los Angeles. At age 29, he became the youngest partner at The Blackstone Group, then served in the U.S. government under President Clinton, leading a team that helped Russia transition to a market economy. He went on to found Evercore Partners as President and Co-CEO. He serves on the Boards of the National Park Foundation, The Nature Conservancy, U.S. Ski and Snowboard Foundation and was the past chair of CalArts and The Broad Stage.
