Expertise focuses on development of new semiconductor light sources, and the use of laser-based techniques in fundamental condensed matter research and applied optical technologies. Accomplishments include development of the first blue/green semiconductor laser, articulation of the dynamics of magnetic polarons, and demonstration of ultrafast optical switching of magnetization.
