My current interest is the organization of cellular signaling and its representation in mathematical models. I am currently working on a model of the myogenic response of arterial smooth muscle. The disparate and opposing roles of calcium ions in this process are based on the channeling of signaling by proximity in microdomains of signal transmitters and receivers. This interest stems from my decades of work on the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors and more recently on potassium channels, except that instead of focusing on one protein at a time, I am now juggling forty - symbolically.
