Paulraj's 1992 invention of a radical concept using multiple antennas at both ends of a wireless link (MIMO) lies at the heart of the current high speed WiFi and 4G networks, revolutionizing wireless services for billions of people. MIMO boosts data rate by creating parallel spatial data streams. Paul's research at Stanford University, his two pioneering companies and thought leadership, has made MIMO the most transformative wireless technology in recent decades. Paul's major honors include the IEEE Alexander G. Bell Medal,  the Marconi Prize and a USPTO National Inventors Hall of Fame inductee. He will bring a deep perspective on global wireless technology trends to the Academy.
