Case's main research interests are in microeconomic foundations of development, and the relationship between income and health over the life-course. Her work with Angus Deaton on mortality and morbidity in the US has reshaped research and policy. She has an influential portfolio of research on development in South Africa and elsewhere, emphasizing the relationship between children, socioeconomic status, health and economic outcomes.
