Emeritus Professor of Biology, Brandeis University Research focuses on the molecular mechanism of muscle contraction and regulation of contraction. He has identified domains on the contractile protein myosin that are responsible for energy utilization and combination with actin forming the contractile complex. Discovered myosin-linked regulation. SHowed that molluscan muscles are regulated by direct binding of calcium on myosin. Present research effort centers on structural changes responsible for these functions.
