At Stanford since 1961, he has served as head of the Department of Psychology, Dean of the School of Humanities and Sciences, Director of the Youth Studies Center at Stanford, and as Vice President and Provost. He held the Benjamin Scott Crocker Professorship in Human Biology. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and Sigma Xi. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of Mills College 1967-77, was atrustee of the Center for Advanced Studies in the Behavioral Sciences and of the Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford. He also served as a trustee of the Nueva School and Thacher School. He has been awarded honorary degrees by Dartmouth College and Amherst College. He is now Director of the Terman Study of the Girfted at Stanford University.
