Akshay Venkatesh is a mathematician and the Robert and Luisa Fernholz Professor at the Institute for Advanced Study. Venkatesh received the Fields Medal in 2018 for his synthesis of analytic number theory, homogeneous dynamics, topology, and representation theory, which resolved long-standing problems in areas such as the equidistribution of arithmetic objects. Venkatesh previously taught at Stanford University. He received his Ph.D. from Princeton University.
