Artist’s Note
“I am a big believer in the power of creativity. Over the last couple of years, my family and I have been playing music as an informal, improvisational family band. We come together and create songs, looking to experience the largeness of soul that comes when you’re making something. There’s a special joy that comes with doing something that you’re not very good at, and that’s the energy that we bring to making music.
“The song I’m sharing for the Mixtape is called ‘Sunset,’ and my family wrote it one night while watching a sunset. This is not a professional song by any stretch of the imagination. But that’s the point of creativity. It doesn’t have to be professional. It doesn’t have to meet any standard – other than moving you – to be worth doing. I hope that this can inspire your own unexceptional art.”
