Key Findings:

  • Over 1.7 million students took at least one course in English at a community college in the fall of 2015.
  • More than half of the faculty teaching humanities courses in community colleges (approximately 37,000) taught English courses, which represented approximately 10% of all community college faculty.
  • Almost every community college offered at least one course in English.
  • Approximately a quarter of students enrolled at community colleges for credit took an English course.
  • Dually enrolled high school students comprised approximately 15% of the students enrolled in English courses at community colleges.
