This panel discussion examined the understanding of research, the search for truth, and the importance of academic freedom to research across a variety of fields. In a time when the role of research in the university is often misunderstood and devalued, and "alternative facts" appear to have the same validity as those supported by research, can faculty across the disciplines make the case that they are engaged in work that is more objective, testable, and viable?
