One of the most salient issues facing the founders of the United States in the 1780s was determining how the citizens of the individual states would be represented in the new national government.
In November 2017 – one year after the presidential election and with increased interest in questions of district boundaries, demographics, representation, and voter suppression – the American Academy convened a discussion of experts to explore what we know about how Americans vote, how districts are drawn, and how these processes might be improved.
