Our Common Purpose Champions Convening

A cross-ideological Academy Commission released their report, Our Common Purpose: Reinventing American Democracy for the 21st Century American Democracy for the 21st Century, in 2020. 

Since then, more than seventy organizations have pledged their support for one or more of the report’s recommendations. These Our Common Purpose Champions come from across the country and from a wide range of perspectives to perform outstanding work in service of strengthening our civil society, civic culture, and responsive government.

When members of that network convened at the Academy in December 2024, they reflected on the election, shared ideas, and discussed next steps. The event included this conversation about accomplishments, reflections, and challenges featuring project cochairs Danielle Allen, Stephen Heintz, and Eric Liu, with Goodwin Liu
