Dec 1, 2023
|
Cambridge, MA
At this gathering, Cornell William Brooks (Harvard Kennedy School), a member of the Academy’s Commission on Reimagining Our Economy, shared why the Commission recommends extending to surviving Black World War II veterans and their direct descendants the housing and education benefits denied under the 1944 GI Bill.
This recommendation is one of fifteen in Advancing a People-First Economy, the Commission’s final report.
Dr. Brooks, along with Commission cochair and Academy member Ann Fudge (Young & Rubicam Brands), led a conversation about the American racial wealth gap and why addressing past wrongs is a vital component of reimagining a better economic future.
