Leadership and the Future of Higher Education, Post-Affirmative Action
The Academy, along with partners ACE and EducationCounsel, convened Affiliate Program presidents, chancellors, and provosts for an invitation-only, unrecorded, virtual convening to explore the prospective impacts of the anticipated Supreme Court decisions on affirmative action. The conversation covered a range of institutions and initiatives, offering avenues for continued commitment and action; messaging and stakeholder engagement strategies before and immediately after the decisions; and priority strategies to minimize disruption during the 2023-24 academic year and beyond.
President Joanne Berger Sweeney of Trinity College and Chancellor Kim Wilcox of the University of California, Riverside led the meeting. They were joined by Art Coleman and Jamie Lewis Keith of EducationCounsel, who shared law-informed strategies, examples, and insights from their national work with campuses and their leaders.
