Making the Case for International Scientific Partnerships
International scientific collaborations have led to groundbreaking scientific discoveries such as the first image of a black hole, lifesaving vaccines and therapies, and new crops that help prevent famine. In the face of current global challenges - including COVID-19 and the climate crisis - international collaboration that involves established and emerging science partners grows ever more critical.
All were invited to join the discussion of America and the International Future of Science, the first publication issued by the Academy’s Challenges for International Scientific Partnerships initiative. The project’s leaders explored the report’s recommendations for continued U.S. engagement with the global scientific ecosystem, U.S.-China collaboration, and the importance of building a more resilient and inclusive scientific enterprise for the post-COVID-19 world.
