What does it take to make art possible—and support the artists who create it? The Covid-19 pandemic hit the creative sector hard and laid bare longstanding needs in the field. Three arts leaders shared their own experiences, discussed how their work addresses issues including artists’ rights and racial equity, and explored the kinds of resources and structures needed to support the field. This program was cosponsored by Springboard for the Arts and highlighted insights from the American Academy’s Commission on the Arts, which is focused on uplifting the arts in a diverse 21st-century American democracy.
